Sexing[edit | edit source]
- Mature females will have fuller bellies than the more sleek and slender males. The dark bars on the front portion of the male's body are also darker than the female's.
Tank compatibility[edit | edit source]
- A generally peaceful fish which should be kept in groups of at least six of its own kind. They should not be kept with slow-moving long-finned fish as they may fin nip, especially at dinner time. They work well with similar-sized Cyprinids, Livebearers and Rainbowfish and peaceful Catfish.
Diet[edit | edit source]
- Should accept small live/frozen foods like daphnia, bloodworm and brine shrimp, as well as pellet/flake foods.
Feeding regime[edit | edit source]
- Feed once or twice a day.
Environment specifics[edit | edit source]
- Requires a spacious tank, does well in a hill-stream type set up provided there is not too much current and they have peaceful parts to escape to. Also does well in heavily planted set ups with dark substrate. The tank must be mature with stable water conditions. These fish do best in acidic conditions.

- A generally peaceful and active shoaling fish.
Identification[edit | edit source]
- Typical Danio in shape with distinctive gold markings, these appear to create vertical bands down the flanks with darker blue-grey in between. It has quite long barbels for its size.
